The Union Station SkyWalk: the covered walk and where to base yourself

The Union Station SkyWalk is the enclosed pedestrian link heading west from Union toward the CN Tower, Rogers Centre and Metro Toronto Convention Centre. It covers part of the journey to the tower and stadium; the final approach is outdoors.

Use it for that westbound walk. It does not suit someone who needs a guaranteed indoor journey from a train platform to an attraction entrance or a private suite door.

Where do you enter the SkyWalk at Union Station?

Start at Union's Great Hall and head toward the west end, following the Rogers Centre signs. The Metrolinx walking guide gives a useful sequence: the TD lounge on your left, a left at the hallway end, then a right through the doors into the SkyWalk.

UP Express passengers join the route farther along, beside the airport train's terminal. UP Express places its Union stop inside the SkyWalk, at the far west end of the station, with access from 97 Front Street West.

For the tower or stadium, continue west past UP Express. At the end of the glass hall, the signed route rises by stairs or escalators, then turns left through the doors. The step-free alternative uses ramps and elevators, described below.

Skip the doors marked Station Street and York Street if your aim is to stay inside on this westbound section. Those are street exits, shown in UP Express's illustrated directions.

Where does the covered route end?

At the attraction end, the SkyWalk sends you outside near the CN Tower and Ripley's Aquarium. For the return, re-enter the same SkyWalk doors and follow Union Station signs east toward UP Express. Metrolinx's route guide explicitly includes an outdoor finish and the reverse walk.

Choose the destination before choosing the exit:

• CN Tower: Continue to the main entrance at 290 Bremner Boulevard. The tower's accessibility guide puts Union to the tower via SkyWalk at 700 metres.
• Rogers Centre: After the SkyWalk exit, walk between the aquarium and tower, then west toward Gates 5/6. Blue Jays directions. GO Transit allows about 10 minutes from Union.
• MTCC South: Keep following Convention Centre signs through the SkyWalk. The venue's indoor arrival instructions place its entrance on the left.
• MTCC North: From UP Express, the venue directs you west through the SkyWalk, down to Lower Simcoe Street by elevator or stairs, then west on Front Street to the main entrance. This option includes an outdoor section.

The last two routes come from the MTCC's own directions. For a Front Street arrival, North is at 255 Front Street West; South is at 222 Bremner Boulevard, as listed by the venue. The MTCC conference-stay guide handles the building choice in detail.

Do not keep following the stadium signs when your destination is an MTCC room. The covered corridor is a connection with branches, not one entrance shared by all three venues.

What are the Union Station SkyWalk hours?

Toronto Union publishes general station hours of 5:30 a.m. to 12:45 a.m. daily.

For early or late UP Express travel, use the west Great Hall entrance at 65 Front Street West. The operator's instructions specify this entrance before 5:30 a.m. on weekdays and Saturdays, before 6:30 a.m. on Sundays and holidays, and after 12:45 a.m. daily.

Individual venue and PATH doors follow the access rules of the property they cross, so the last door on your route is the one to check. The City explains that property-by-property control; the broader PATH hours guide covers it across downtown.

What is open along the SkyWalk?

Coffee and luggage storage sit near UP Express. They have their own opening hours.

Balzac's UP Express café, at 7 Station Street, lists 6:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. An open train station does not mean an open coffee counter.

UP Express lists BagsAway a few steps from its terminal in the SkyWalk. This is a staffed luggage-storage business, not a bank of public station lockers. Use the café and storage stop as arrival services, rather than treating the passage as a shopping destination.

Is the SkyWalk accessible, and what has closed?

The CN Tower accessibility guide identifies barrier-free access through Union and the SkyWalk using ramps and elevators. It also identifies Bremner Boulevard as a barrier-free street approach. The MTCC lists an accessible PATH entrance to its South Building.

There are level changes. The stairs and escalators in the photograph are a reason to follow the accessible-route signs, rather than copying every turn in a walking video.

One nearby connection really has closed: the VIA-Telus ramp between Union and 25 York Street. GO Transit says it closed permanently for construction of the south passenger concourse. Skip old instructions that send you down that ramp. This is a closure south of the station, not a notice that the westbound SkyWalk is closed.

Does the SkyWalk take you to a York suite indoors?

The westbound SkyWalk and the route to a York suite are separate navigation decisions.

StayToronto's York suites are at 12 and 14 York Street, in ICE Condominiums. The January 2026 official south PATH map shows ICE Towers on a South Core branch connected through Maple Leaf Square. It labels the SkyWalk farther west, toward the convention centre and tower.

That makes York a relevant short-stay base for this pocket. A line on a PATH map is not a guest's check-in route. Including ours.

For any accommodation, the useful question is: “Which public entrance connects to my check-in door at my arrival time?” “Near the SkyWalk” is not the answer.

Before you go

• Confirm the access hours at the SkyWalk doors needed for your journey. The official pages checked on 25 September 2026 did not establish a complete through-route timetable or a seasonal or event-hours schedule.
• Check current Union construction notices and lift availability if you need step-free access. No SkyWalk moving walkway was verified; plan for walking or wheeling the route.
• Confirm the York building entrance and any resident-access doors with StayToronto before relying on a fully indoor arrival.
• Allow extra time beyond GO Transit's approximate walk for crowds, lifts and your assigned stadium gate.
